Special
Alert
highlighting the gradual, yet serious, increase in the number of meningitis
cases being reported in the country

are current concerns that the low immunization coverage and the
high population density in Ethiopia have created the right mix for
a potential major meningitis epidemic this year. External
support from partners to effectively prevent and control the
epidemic is essential and could otherwise seriously compromise the
situation.
